The text was a surprise and immediately we began making plans to drive to Ottawa. Nephew David was at the Montreal Canadiens training camp and was told that he was going to get a chance to play in a pre-season game vs the Ottawa Senators. This time we would have company as nephew Johnny and his fiancé (now wife) Victoria were up for a roadie.

We loaded up the Explorer and hit the road to Ottawa.
Adam had met a friend named Nicole on an Edu-Travel trip to France over the summer and she lived near Ottawa so she met us just before the game. In addition, my brother Jamie and his friend Jen made a weekend of it and met us at the game. It was great to have all the Broll supporters there. We brought a whole bunch of Dave’s old jerseys and everyone got to wear one.
Dave hooked us up with a discount room at the hotel the Canadiens usually stay at when in Ottawa, the Brookstreet. It is a really nice hotel and had a shuttle bus right to the rink.
It was really fun seeing Dave in the Canadiens colours but a little strange after so many years in blue and white!
The game was a 5 – 1 victory for the home town Senators. We took a few pics while we were waiting to go see Dave after the game.
Tate Men The gangs all here!
Once Dave was done getting changed we posed for the ultimate Broll photos!

The next day we drove home, stopping in Kingston on the way to do a quick drive-thru Queens University…another one on Adam’s shortlist. Nice campus with a lot of history!
As a footnote to this story, Adam ended up choosing Queens University for his post-secondary education, majoring in Engineering with a Certificate in Business.
